Supply Chain and Procurement Recruitment

We recruit across the whole spectrum of Supply Chain & Procurement roles, from Buyers to Supply Chain Analysts, to Procurement Managers, Supply Chain Managers, and C-Suite level with Global Head of Buying or Global Supply Chain Director.

Our recruitment process means we have had success at recruiting both management and analytical areas in these teams – if we haven’t recruited for the exact role you are looking to recruit, we most certainly have the contextual knowledge of every aspect to be able to understand your brief.

If you recruit in these areas regularly, you probably will have had experience of recruitment agencies claiming they know what a specific role needs – or even worse, telling you what they think you need – when they clearly don’t have a clue. Whilst we have worked on most roles in the Supply Chain sphere, our standard procedure means we do a detailed fact-find before starting any assignment… so you can rest assured we will be trying to find the person you want, rather than the person we think you want!

Often the roles are the same but with different names, and this is when the above research is fundamental. Not to mention if you are the only company in your sector in the region – we encountered this whilst sourcing a Marine Technology Buyer for a very specialist manufacturing business based inland – miles from the coast where most candidates were based. In this case we had no choice but to source them a candidate from outside their industry so transferable skills were key.

Whether you are a large business confidentially looking for a new Head of Buying or an SME that wants to delve deeper into your stock analytic, please contact us to see how we can help you.

Case Study

Buyer – Food Distributor

We approached a well-known regional food distributor in Suffolk that had been advertising for a Buyer directly and via agencies for a few weeks. They were at final interview stage initially and rejected our support but we followed up a couple of weeks later to discover the candidate they had hired had been counter-offered.

The client was in a real pickle at this point as they were incredibly short stocked in their alcohol range and were both having to turn away new business and struggling to supply existing customers. The candidate who dropped out had been a perfect fit with a strong on and off trade buying background, and they were low in confidence at finding a suitable alternative.

Our briefing chat established that alcohol knowledge – in particular wine – was such a key point and this experience outweighed the necessity of buying experience at the right level or any experience in the other food categories. This insight was essential as it was clear the other agencies had exhausted all avenues in alcohol buying in the region. Thankfully they had missed what we had learned about a recent merger of two alcohol brands and a subsequent office relocation to the Midlands.

After investigating this merger, we realised some candidates may be at risk of redundancy with the buying team being centralised, so dug a little deeper. Whilst we didn’t find a buyer, we did source a Supply Chain Manager with extensive experience in the wine industry, and passionate personal interest in wine along with a WSET wine qualification. With the prospect of redundancy looming, some relevant experience and a great attitude ticking boxes on the candidate side, we made a proposal for this somewhat leftfield option to the client and after accepting the candidate is still at the company three years on.
